DEFINITION • Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending upon the deeds and moral quality of the previous life’s actions. • A person or animal in whom a particular soul is believed to have been reborn. • Rebirth of any individual in new body or even a new form is said to be reincarnation
  • 3. • The word "reincarnation" derives from Latin, literally meaning, “entering the flesh again”. • Concept of reincarnation is present in many religions of the world. It is an very old concept and its root goes back to Iron Age • The concept was originated and believed by Greeks, Verdicts, ancient European, Iranian and Indian, Aryan, ancient chinese and african cultures. BUDDHISM • Unlike Hinduism , soul dies along with the body • Personality, deeds and past actions are transferred to the soul of a new body • In Buddhism, At the death of one personality, a new one comes into being, much as the flame of a dying candle can serve to light the flame of another • The consciousness of the new person is same as the previous one.

CHRISTIANITY • Though the major Christian denominations reject the concept of reincarnation, a large number of Christians profess the belief • Man is the special creation of God, created in God’s image with both a material body and an immaterial soul and spirit. So enter among My servants, and enter My garden." (89:27-30)

Modern Sufis who embrace the idea include Bawa Muhaiyadeen • It is claimed by some sufi groups that the mystics and poets in the Islam tradition have celebrated this belief: "I died as mineral and became a plant, I died as plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was man. Why should I fear? When was I less by dying?" • However Sufis like Hazrat Inayat Khan has criticized the idea as unhelpful to the spiritual seeker.
